At Image Surgical Arts, we offer platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections as a stand-alone treatment to help women and men reduce signs of aging on their face, neck, chest and hands. But PRP also pairs nicely with a variety of facial procedures because its powerful growth factors can help patients see even better results, faster.
PRP is entirely natural, derived from each patient’s own blood, so it is a great option for anyone to consider. Skin type or color don’t matter, and there is no chance of allergic reaction.
PRP Rejuvenates the Skin
From a small blood sample, we separate the platelets – the component that stimulates healing – and process it to create a concentrated serum. Depending on the facial procedure, we may strategically inject PRP precisely where it is needed, or we may apply the plasma topically. Either way, the PRP promotes faster cellular turnover and increased collagen production.
This “new” skin is healthier – firmer and more uniform in tone and texture. Because PRP is so versatile, we can pair it with different types of facial procedures. Here are some of the best pairings, recommended by patients and staff alike!
SkinPen or Rejuvapen® Microneedling
SkinPen is the first microneedling technology designed for a small, easily-controllable handheld device. It allows us to effectively treat even tiny and hard-to-reach areas, such as the sides of your nose. Microneedling creates tiny pricks in the skin, which stimulates the body’s natural healing response. The result is increased production of fresh, new skin tissue. We can adjust needle depth to treat both surface and deeper issues as needed for each patient.
SkinPen microneedling helps correct fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, pigmentation problems and acne scarring to produce smoother, brighter looking skin.
Rejuvapen is similar to SkinPen, except that it also allows us to adjust needle speed as well as depth, so treatment can be even more precisely tailored to each person’s skin condition. Rejuvapen is especially effective for reducing visible wrinkles and superficial scars and producing smoother surface texture.
PRP is an ideal companion for microneedling. We apply the plasma on the skin’s surface, and the microscopic channels created by the needles serve to draw the PRP into the deeper skin layers where it can be most effective.
Vivace Microneedling
The device we use for this treatment is similar to SkinPen, but it produces more comprehensive results because it combines microneedling with red and blue light and radiofrequency heat. This more complex treatment enables Vivace to tighten skin as well as reduce the appearance of acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, rosacea. The PRP is added topically after the treatment, allowing it to penetrate the skin on contact.
Erbium Treatment with EvoLite Laser
This is an advanced, highly precise type of intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment that uses erbium crystals to control the light wavelength and heat delivered to the target area. EvoLite with erbium can address fine lines and also deeper wrinkles as well as red and brown spots. PRP is added topically after this treatment as well.
Elluminate Laser Treatment
This unique laser treatment uses three different types of crystals, each of which produce different wavelengths, to simultaneously correct skin problems on the surface and in deeper layers. Elluminate effectively treats redness and spider veins, brown spots caused by the sun or aging, and textural issues such as wrinkles and scarring. And again, the PRP is added topically for immediate penetration of the skin, just after the treatment.
PRP Under the Eyes
Although there are dermal fillers that can improve the appearance of hollowness and dark circles under the eyes, we recommend PRP for the under-eye area instead. The skin here is particularly thin, so filler may not produce the perfectly smooth appearance you want. PRP, on the other hand, is your body’s own answer for repair. The growth factors stimulate faster, natural production of healthy skin, and we think the results are even better.
Adding PRP Is Fast and Effective
All of these facial procedures can produce noticeable improvement. Adding PRP gives you a jump-start on results and long-term skin rejuvenation. If you want to learn more about how PRP can enhance a procedure you’re considering, we encourage you to schedule a personal consultation.
