Laser Vein Removal
Laser vein removal is a simple solution for patients who would like to address pesky red, blue, or purple veins close to the surface of the skin. Dark spider or varicose veins can occur due to aging, genetics, changes in weight, or a sedentary lifestyle. At Image Surgical Arts of Nashville, we use advanced light energy to target and get rid of blood vessels under the skin.
- Spider veins
- Facial veins
- Some vascular disorders
Focused beams of light energy penetrate the surface of the skin and precisely target melanin (dark pigmentation) in blood vessels. The vein eventually overheats and closes and ultimately fades over time. Surrounding tissue remains unharmed during this process. The procedure is safe and effective for correcting cosmetic venous issues and has very little, if any, downtime.
Results from laser vein removal are gradual. It takes time for the body to naturally reabsorb blood vessels. For some patients, results can be seen in as little as 2-weeks. Others may not see noticeable results until 6-weeks post-treatment. Multiple treatments are often needed to be completely vein-free. Laser vein removal sessions are spaced approximately 6-weeks apart. Continued improvement can be expected with each successive visit.
Laser vein removal is generally well-tolerated. Common side effects include mild pain, redness, and swelling and should subside within several days. Any discomfort can easily be managed with OTC medication. Patients are able to return to their normal activities immediately following their vein treatment.
Men and women who are bothered by spider or other small veins on the thighs, legs, body, or face may want to consider laser vein removal. Dr. Harris and his team will create an individualized treatment plan based on the severity of your condition, treatment area, and aesthetic goals.
