Defining Your Jawline: Kybella vs. Liposuction
Kybella is an FDA-approved injectable designed to reduce the appearance of moderate to severe submental fullness. Typically, the fat found below the chin is non-responsive to diet and exercise, especially when caused by genetics. The non-surgical procedure can be done with a quick, in-office visit and has minimal side effects and virtually zero downtime.
- Reduce the appearance a double chin
- Define the profile
- Treat moderate to severe fullness
- Improve self-image and confidence
At the time of your Kybella® appointment, one of Image Surgical Arts ’s expert injectors will mark the injection sites and apply a topical numbing agent. They will then strategically make multiple small injections to the predetermined treatment area. The deoxycholic acid-based injectable breaks down and absorbs localized pockets of fat. During your initial consultation, Dr. Harris and his staff will walk you through every aspect of your upcoming procedure in-depth.
Results from Kybella® are not immediate. It takes time for your body to naturally absorb and expel dead fat cells. On average, you can expect to see results from your initial Kybella® treatment about 4-6 weeks later. Anywhere from 2-6 treatments may be necessary to help you achieve your desired outcome. However, Kybella® provides long-lasting results. Once existing fat is gone, it isn’t coming back. Fluctuations in weight can have adverse effects on your treatment.
Most patients find the procedure quite tolerable. A topical anesthetic cream will be applied beforehand to make the treatment more comfortable. During the 15-20 minute injection process, you may feel slight pressure from the small needle. After your Kybella® procedure, you’re free to return to normal activities as needed.
Common side effects may include slight swelling, bruising, redness, or numbness. Any symptoms of your Kybella® treatment should subside within several days. It’s important to choose a skilled injector such as Dr. Brady Harris or one of his trusted, expert injectors to perform your Kybella® treatment to ensure the best possible outcome with the least amount of recovery time.
Liposuction is one of the most requested cosmetic procedures for body-contouring. Fatty tissue that is non-responsive to diet and exercise can be indefinitely removed leaving you with a sculpted, toned shape. Liposuction is a highly-individualized procedure and unique for every patient. Results can be as dramatic or subtle as you like.
- Abdomen and waist
Your outpatient liposuction procedure will be performed in Image Surgical Arts ’s state-of-the-art surgical center. Dr. Harris uses the most up-to-date equipment and surgical techniques for the best possible outcome and minimal downtime. A small incision is made, and a thin cannula tube is inserted into predetermined areas before pockets of fat are removed via suction methods. One or more areas can be treated during the same session. Liposuction is great for patients who also want to add volume to another part of their body with a fat-transfer procedure.
You’ll be able to see a thinner looking you in the mirror immediately following your liposuction treatment. However, your new contours will continue to develop as swelling and fluid retention subside. Although it can take up to several months to see your final figure, most women are happy with their slimmer physique in just a few weeks. Results from liposuction are long-lasting. Maintaining a stable weight and general fitness can prevent the need for future treatments.
The procedure itself is done under either general or local anesthesia with IV sedation depending on the area being treated and your personal preference. You may experience soreness after the anesthesia wears off and a few days following your procedure. After several days, pain-levels will decrease steadily, but you may feel uncomfortable for a couple weeks. Wearing a compression garment can help with healing and re-shaping and is provided to you by Image Surgical Arts .
*Individual results may vary.
Men and women who are bothered by their profile or a double chin can benefit from either or both liposuction and Kybella. Ideal candidates are patients who are in good general health and are non-smokers. Kybella can be an effective solution to chin fat, but may require multiple sessions. For liposuction, your skin elasticity plays a major role in if you’ll have a positive outcome from the procedure.
