Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, is a protein-based substance in your blood packed with healing properties and growth factors. PRP is used to treat a variety of conditions. When injected into the face or other areas it can rejuvenate the skin and promote the growth of new cells and healing.

Platelet-Rich Plasma can also be topically applied after microneedling or laser treatments for enhanced effects and speedier recovery. Treatments are safe, effective, and require no downtime.  Additionally, PRP can be used to stimulate hair growth in men and women who are experiencing hair loss.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Can Treat:

  • Sun Damage
  • Wrinkles
  • Deep Facial Lines
  • Stretch Marks
  • Pigmentation Problems
  • Hair Loss
  • Overall Rejuvenation

How Does it Work?

PRP is a simple 3-step process. Blood is drawn from your own body, and the plasma is then separated from the red blood cells in our lab’s centrifuge. The plasma is activated before being re-injected back into the body, to regenerate tissue to problem areas.

The Platelet-Rich Plasma contains growth and healing properties which promote increased collagen production and faster cellular turnover. Because PRP uses your own blood, it makes a great alternative to or combined with traditional fillers that help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

When Can I Expect to See Results?*

Results from PRP injections can vary from person to person. Some improvement can be seen in just one session. Patients can expect smoother and more even skin. Because PRP is a growth-inducing procedure, final results may not be visible until 4-6 weeks after your initial session. When PRP is injected, it stimulates collagen production which can take some time for the body to produce.

Does It Hurt?*

For the patient’s comfort, topical anesthesia is often used before PRP is injected into the site. The risk of side-effects is minimal since the body’s own blood is used and therefore the chance of reaction is slim. You may experience slight swelling and redness at the injection site; however, this is expected to subside quickly following the treatment.

Am I A Good Candidate?

You may be a good candidate for PRP if you’re unhappy with visible signs of aging on the face, neck, hands, chest or if you have hair loss you aren’t happy with. The procedure is ideal for men and women who have previously had adverse reactions to synthetic fillers and would like a natural alternative. Whatever your personal goals, Dr. Harris and our team will discuss them with you during your one-on-one consultation and determine if PRP is the solution for you.
