A labiaplasty is a surgical procedure aimed at restoring your natural feminine contours after pregnancy, childbearing, or menopause. The procedure can help improve the aesthetic appearance of your vaginal lips and labia for a renewed sense of self-confidence. Like any surgery, you’ll be able to facilitate a smooth recovery with careful planning after a labiaplasty.
Dr. Brady Harris is a triple board-certified cosmetic surgeon. He has helped numerous women achieve their optimal feminine wellness with vaginal rejuvenation procedures. Dr. Harris meticulously uses his advanced knowledge and skillset to produce exceptional results with the least amount of downtime possible.
Preparing for Your Labiaplasty
You may be surprised to learn that there are things you can do before your surgery to improve recovery times. Set yourself up for success by eating a healthy diet, drinking plenty of water, and getting a good amount of sleep. The healthier you are before your procedure, the smoother your recovery will be.
Aside from getting in your best shape possible, it is a good idea to adequately plan enough time for yourself to heal. Dr. Harris generally recommends taking at least one week off work. More strenuous activities should be postponed for several weeks or until your scars are fully healed.
What to Expect from Your Labiaplasty
Labiaplasties are done as an outpatient procedure in our state-of-the-art surgical center in Nashville, TN. The procedure is done under IV sedation or general anesthesia and is generally well-tolerated. After a short observation period, you’ll be able to recover in the comfort of your own home.
You can expect to have some tenderness in the pubic region for the first several days of recovery. Prescription medications will be provided during this time to keep you more comfortable. Icing the treatment area is also a good idea to keep swelling and inflammation to a minimum.
