Areas of the Body for Muscle Enhancement

Fat transfer to muscle can enhance and sculpt multiple muscle groups, helping you achieve balanced, natural-looking results across your body. Dr. Harris can perform this advanced technique to help improve muscle fullness in areas such as:

  • Pectorals (chest): Many men want a broader, fuller chest that enhances the appearance of strength. Fat transfer can add natural volume to the chest without the need for implants.
  • Deltoids (shoulders): Fat grafting to the shoulders creates a rounder, more athletic profile, helping enhance symmetry between the upper body and arms.
  • Biceps/triceps: By adding volume to the upper arms, fat transfer enhances definition and improves muscle contour: Great for men who want their arms to appear stronger and more proportionate.
  • Glutes: Transferring fat to the gluteal area helps create a lifted, firmer, and more built look. This technique provides shape and projection without implants.
  • Calves: Fat grafting to the calves brings balance to the lower body, especially for men who struggle with naturally lean lower legs that don't respond well to training.

Want to define and enhance multiple areas at one time? Dr. Harris often treats several regions of the same surgical session, saving you both time and money. His high-definition liposuction technique can sculpt the body with superior precision, for example, defining the abs, and that extra fat can go toward volumizing muscles in the desired area.

Who's a Good Candidate for Fat Transfer to Muscle?

If you have stubborn fat in areas like your abdomen, flanks, or thighs, and you have enough donor fat, you may be a good candidate.

The best candidates are in good general health. Fat transfer to muscle isn't a substitute for strength training, so ideal candidates are committed to an active, healthy lifestyle. Realistic expectations are important. The procedure is best suited for moderate increases in muscle size. It's ideal for men who want to achieve improved muscle shape, fullness, and proportion rather than dramatic size gains or extreme bulking.

Fat transfer is the ideal procedure for men seeking to sculpt and enhance the natural curvature of their muscles. Fat transfer is essentially a 2-in-1 body contouring procedure in which some areas are made smaller and others are bolstered. If you have suitable donor fat and haven’t been able to achieve your desired results with diet and exercise, you may be a good candidate for fat grafting. Men who are non-smokers and in good general health typically have the best outcome from the procedure. Dr. Harris will create a customized plan based on your body type and ultimate goals - you can even consider contouring multiple areas of your body at once.

Fat Transfer Procedure

Fat grafting is done as an outpatient procedure in our own state-of-the-art surgical center. Dr. Harris uses high-definition liposuction to safely and effectively harvest autologous fat (fat from your own body). Fat cells can be removed from anywhere unwanted bulges exist such as the hips, thighs, or buttocks. High-definition liposuction ensures the optimal rate for fat cell survival, giving patients better results.

The harvested fat is then purified and prepared for re-injection. Dr. Harris places the autologous fat directly into the desired muscles to increase their size.

Fat Transfer Recovery + Results

Fat transfer procedures are performed under either general anesthesia or via IV sedation and a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort. After anesthesia wears off and for several days afterward, you may experience some minor discomfort. However, fat transfer is typically well-tolerated. You can return to work in as little as 5-7 days, but full recovery can take upwards of 2-weeks.

How Long Do Fat Transfer Results Last?

Fat transfer offers long-lasting, natural-looking results, particularly when combined with a healthy lifestyle. Once the transferred fat establishes blood supply in its new location, it becomes a permanent part of your body.

Most patients retain a significant portion of the grafted fat. As long as you maintain a stable weight and follow the post-op care instructions Dr. Harris provides, results can last for years.
