Arm Lift
An arm lift, or brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure that addresses loose, sagging skin and stubborn fat pockets on the under portion of the arm. Lax skin and fat that is non-responsive to diet and exercise can occur due to significant changes in weight, the natural aging process, or as a result of genetics. Women who find themselves uncomfortable wearing short-sleeve or fitted shirts because of droopy arms may want to consider enlisting the help of an arm lift.
An Arm Lift Can:
- Remove excess skin
- Tighten and smooth underlying tissue
- Reduce pockets of fat
- Help you regain confidence
- Provide a better fit for clothing
How Does an Arm Lift Work?
An arm lift procedure is performed by our triple-board-certified cosmetic surgeon in Image Surgical Arts of Nashville’s state-of-the-art surgical facility in Nashville, TN. Dr. Brady Harris works meticulously to tighten loose skin. Liposuction is always used to remove localized pockets of fat. Because the procedure involves removing excess skin, a scar is inevitable. However, Dr. Harris has helped pioneer a new technique called the Image Surgical Arts Staple Shape Brachioplasty that allows for a much shorter scar and one that does not go onto the axilla or chest wall. The majority of patients feel their scar is an acceptable consequence when compared to the benefits of their arm lift. Dr. Harris works closely with every patient to help them achieve their desired outcome.
When Can I Expect to See Results?*
Smoother, tighter contours should be evident immediately. Results will improve over time as swelling and bruising subside over the course of several weeks. An arm lift provides long-term results. However, changes in weight can alter the outcome of the procedure.
Does It Hurt?*
Your arm lift surgery will be done under general anesthesia or via IV sedation and a local anesthetic to minimize discomfort. Pain medication is encouraged for several days post-op. You may feel soreness for up to two weeks. It’s important to listen to your body during this time and avoid pushing yourself too far to prevent complications.
Am I a Good Candidate?
Women who are self-conscious about wearing sleeveless or fitted tops might benefit from an arm lift. Non-smokers in good overall health who have been weight-stable for at least six months are ideal candidates for the procedure. Dr. Harris will create a tailored treatment plan during your in-person consultation based on your skin laxity, body type, and intended goals.
