Lip Lift in Nashville, TN
Facial fat grafting is a minimally-invasive procedure designed to add volume to facial areas that have deflated over time.
ACHIEVE BALANCE AND FULLNESS
A lip lift is a surgical procedure designed to help patients achieve a more aesthetically pleasing overall facial appearance. There are several types of lifts that can address your individual concerns. An upper lift increases fullness for a more voluptuous-looking lip and allows you to show more of the upper teeth when you smile.
If you were born with or acquired less than desirable thin lips from aging, you may be a good candidate for a lip lift. At your in-person consultation, Dr. Harris will do a full facial evaluation to determine if a lip lift is right for you. Patients with less distance between the nose and lip may only see a small improvement with an upper lift. As with all surgical procedures, patients who are in good general health, non-smokers, and have realistic expectations are more likely to achieve their desired outcome.
A Lip Lift Can:
- Elevate the position of the upper lip
- Increase fullness for plump lips
- Improve the entire outline of the mouth
- Expose more teeth when smiling or talking
- Decrease the distance between the nose and upper lip
- Provide balance to the overall appearance of the face

Don't Break the Bank
We know that cosmetic procedures can be a big expense, but we don't want that to hold you back from achieving your aesthetic goals.
Lip Lift:
The Procedure
This is a relatively simple procedure with big impact. Dr. Harris will make a tiny incision below the base of the nose and carefully lift the upper lip. This will shorten the distance between the nose and lip and also roll the pink portion of the lip outward to reveal more of it. The combination of these two maneuvers can create a more youthful, rejuvenated upper lip.
Your lip lift will be performed in our state-of-the-art, on-site surgical facility so there's no need to check in to a hospital. Dr. Harris believes in the artistry of cosmetic surgery as much as the medical knowledge. He will be diligent in creating subtle, natural looking results.
Lip Lift: Recovery & Results
Lip lifts are often well-tolerated with only a local numbing anesthetic. Some patients opt to return to work several days after their procedure, however, makeup should be avoided to the incision site for 7-10 days as you heal. Common side effects include swelling, slight bruising, and mild pain. Medication can be prescribed to manage any discomfort during your healing time.
Some initial results can be seen immediately following your lip lift. Swelling decreases dramatically within a week and the majority of swelling should be gone about 1-month post-op.
Thin, flat lips are transformed into a fuller, more youthful set. A lip lift is a long-term procedure, and most patients only need to have one in their lifetime.
Lip Lift FAQs
Who is a good candidate for a lip lift procedure?
A good candidate for a lip lift is someone who desires a more prominent upper lip, reduced space between the nose and the upper lip, or a more defined lip shape. This procedure is ideal for individuals with thin or elongated lips, as well as those looking for a permanent solution to enhance their lip appearance. Candidates should be in good overall health, have realistic expectations, and be seeking a more permanent alternative to temporary fillers.
How does a lip lift improve the appearance of thin or aging lips?
A lip lift enhances the appearance of thin or aging lips by shortening the distance between the nose and the top of the upper lip, which creates a more lifted and youthful appearance. This subtle elevation exposes more of the pink lip tissue, making the lips appear fuller and more defined. The procedure also helps to restore the natural balance of facial features that can be altered by the aging process.
How long does it take to see full results from a lip lift?
Initial results from a lip lift can be seen within a few days after the procedure as swelling subsides. However, it typically takes about three to 6 months to see the full, final results when the lips fully heal and settle into their new position. During this time, any residual swelling will dissipate, revealing the permanent enhancement.
How is a lip lift different from lip fillers?
A lip lift is a surgical procedure that permanently elevates the upper lip, while lip fillers are non-surgical injections that temporarily add volume to the lips. Unlike fillers, which need to be redone every six to 18 months, a lip lift provides a long-lasting solution by shortening the upper lip, creating a more lifted and youthful appearance without adding volume. Lip fillers, on the other hand, are more focused on adding volume to both the upper and lower lips without altering their position.
Will a lip lift leave visible scars?
While a lip lift does involve a small incision, Dr. Brady Harris takes great care to ensure that scarring is minimal and well-hidden. The incision is typically placed at the base of the nose, just beneath the nostrils, in the natural crease where it is less noticeable. Over time, this incision line usually fades significantly. Dr. Harris uses precise techniques to minimize scarring and ensures a discreet placement that blends naturally with the contours of your face. Following post-operative care instructions, such as avoiding sun exposure and keeping the incision clean, can also help reduce the appearance of scars.
Is a lip lift a permanent solution for fuller lips?
Yes, a lip lift is considered a permanent solution for enhancing the appearance of the upper lip. Once the procedure is performed, the results are long-lasting, with no need for ongoing maintenance like with fillers. However, the natural aging process will continue; over time, further changes may occur in the lip and surrounding facial features, but the lift itself remains.
