How Does It Work?
Dr. Harris’ expert laser and light staff will determine if IPL treatments are right for you. Your laser procedure can be done in as little as 30-minutes. The staff at Image Surgical Arts will guide the handpiece to evenly distribute strong pulses of broad-spectrum light energy to the uppermost layers of skin. The wavelengths target hemoglobin (red blood cells) and melanin (dark pigmentation) causing cells to overheat. The controlled damage increases cellular turnover stimulating your body’s natural healing process.
When Can I Expect to See Results?*
Initial results from your IPL treatment should be obvious. You’ll see noticeably smoother, more radiant skin tone and texture. Continued improvement will occur with the help of increased collagen production for several months post-treatment.
Multiple sessions may be required to achieve your desired outcome. Successive treatments provide even further improvement and are typically spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Results from IPL treatments are long-lasting. Maintenance procedures can safely be performed as needed or on a yearly basis.
Does It Hurt?*
Discomfort with IPL treatments is minimal. Most patients equate the sensation to that of a snap of a small rubber band. At Image Surgical Arts of Nashville, your comfort is our priority. We offer the Pro-Nox system to significantly diminish the amount of discomfort you feel. Pro-Nox uses nitrous oxide similar to that used for dental procedures. You may experience redness or swelling for several days post-procedure. However, you are free to resume daily activities directly after your appointment.
Am I a Good Candidate?
The best way to determine if IPL treatments are right for you is through an in-person consultation. Ideal candidates for the procedure are patients with untanned, semi-fair skin, and non-smokers. Image Surgical Arts offers a wide variety of treatments for patients with darker skin tones. Talk to one of our expert laser and light staff at your initial consultation about your options.
