Sometimes referred to as collagen induction therapy, microneedling is a popular cosmetic procedure designed to restore a youthful appearance to the face. It involves pricking the skin with tiny, single use, sterilized needles to trigger the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin for healing. Microneedling can address issues such as:
- Hair loss
- Hyperpigmentation (dark spots)
- Large pores
- Sun damage
- Fine lines and wrinkles
At Image Surgical Arts, we offer some different options for microneedling. Let’s review each to help you decide which might best suit your needs. As always, call with any questions and to schedule your consultation.
Vivace® RF Microneedling
Vivace is an advanced microneedling technique that utilizes targeted radiofrequency (RF) technology to treat a wide variety of skin conditions with minimal downtime. It is a versatile device that can adapt to a patient’s individual needs. Vivace treatments are safe and effective for any skin type or tone making it the ideal skin rejuvenation procedure for just about anyone.
Vivace Can Treat:
- Skin laxity
- Fine Lines Wrinkles
This is a microneedling device designed specifically to treat facial wrinkles, texture and superficial scarring. Rejuvapen microneedling is quick, painless, and requires minimal recovery time. With this pen, we can be incredibly precise in the depth as well as the speed of the needles. This means results are truly superior.
Vivace® vs. Revujapen®
Vivace is a combination of microneedling, radio frequency, and blue and red light technology and has a patented 36 insulated micro-needle applicator which allows faster and more even delivery to the surface of the skin. Radiofrequency wavelengths ensure heat is also delivered evenly, which minimizes the risk of burning and dramatically reduces discomfort.
Rejuvapen does not use light, but is designed in such a way that we can be very precise with treatments. Its patented ISO Tips™ create a barrier between the tip and the device. The digital fingertip control and 9 separate speeds, along with a specialized dial, allows us to precisely customize treatments.
Both treatments can be combined with topical platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments allowing them to deeply penetrate the open microchannels for further enhancement.
This FDA-approved, pen-like, handheld device revolutionized microneedling, making it easy for providers to treat very small areas and hard-to-reach skin such as around the nostrils. SkinPen uses tiny, sterile, surgical grade needles causing micro injuries to the skin, triggering the natural healing process. New skin is stronger, smoother and brighter looking.
SkinPen allows highly tailored treatment, as the needle depth can be adjusted to treat both surface and deeper issues. We can improve the appearance of enlarged pores and hyperpigmentation as well as fine lines, wrinkles and acne scarring.
When Can I Expect to See Results?
While results may vary from person to person, you can expect improvement from a single session with either of these devices. Results can typically be seen within several hours post-treatment. Because collagen production is stimulated by the treatment, your skin will also feel and appear smoother, tighter and more radiant in the weeks following. You can enjoy long-term benefits from your microneedling treatment.
Does It Hurt?
These treatments have been designed to ensure optimal patient comfort. The applicators are so precise that it makes the procedure almost painless in comparison to alternative methods. A topical numbing agent is also applied prior to treatment, and skin healing serums are administered after the procedure to keep you comfortable before, during, and after.
Patients who have undergone treatment with Vivace largely experience little to no downtime. Some minor redness or swelling may occur within the hours following the procedure which should subside quickly. Most patients can return to normal daily activities soon after their session.
Am I A Good Candidate?
Microneedling is highly-customizable and has been designed for all skin types and tones. If you’re seeking to enhance your skin’s overall appearance and reduce wrinkles and scarring, microneedling may be right for you. This non-invasive approach to skin rejuvenation could be the answer you are looking for. Your treatment goals can be discussed at the time of your initial consultation, which will help us determine whether Vivace RF or the Rejuvapen will be most appropriate for you.
